Go Back to Pakistan!

Go back to Pakistan- this chant signifies a bridge. It connects hypernationalists and the general public who question the governments about national matters. The “desh-bhakts” of today’s generation criticize people with opposing ideologies. They label them as anti-nationals and dictate where they belong!

The Political narrative has been in the Indian system since 2016-17. This shift started when someone shouted the slogan “desh ki 7 tukde karenge” at the JNU protest. The tukde-tukde gang narrative has been floating in the Indian media community. Every protester is slapped with the tag of anti-national. They are told to go back to Pakistan.

During the Partition in 1947, many Muslim people went to Pakistan to form their religious state. Other Muslims stayed back to create the secular India as we know it back in 2014. After the Hindutwa ideology spread its wings in the political ecosystem, the minority people are targeted by the ruling party. Right-wing extremists claim that Muslims should go back to Pakistan! Nowadays, that chant is applied to every dissenting voice.

People with right-wing ideology issue an ultimatum to dissenting protesters during the farmers’ agitation. They do the same during the banker’s strike. This includes SSC exam protests and the protest by army veterans. Not only online but also offline, people reprimand the so-called “anti-nationals.” The question arises—who gives the people the authority to act on the moral policy of patriotism?

People with a secular and liberal mindset have been targeted many times. This happens in their social or friend circles, at the hands of so-called friends. Many relationships and friendships have been ruined over this nonsense.

Hatred and insecurity among the people are resulting in inner demons for many, bringing the communal angle to every conversation. The slogan- Go back to Pakistan epitomizes hypernationalists, irrational, and criminal mindsets. These mindsets exist in both online and offline communities under the guise of an akhand Bharat.
