On-site and NRI groom

The average middle-class family in India is familiar with the magical word “Onsite.” In the corporate sector, on-site opportunities allow individuals to move to foreign countries. In these locations, they can earn higher salaries and enjoy a higher standard of living. No one will give up the allure of on-site work. Yet, the charm becomes a curse when going on-site becomes a dull, overused trend. People try to garner fame among relatives. They aim to earn extra money. Nevertheless, they endure a cramped lifestyle in a foreign country.

Nowadays, Elon Musk is trying to colonize Mars and other planets for future habitation. Indians are attempting to outdo their national counterparts by settling elsewhere. They are creating a “Mini India,” which is quite amusing. The constant inclination to settle down and build a life is the top priority for Indians abroad. The novelty of Onsite is now available in every profession, except IT and corporate. The middle-class dream is to settle in the US, the UK, or Europe. Parents want to discuss their children’s settlement with friends and relatives. This dream is well known.

Check the matrimony sites for grooms ready to marry. You will find that NRI grooms are in demand. The highest-paid doctors, engineers, chefs, and others are consistently the most sought-after professionals, often well established abroad. The bride and the whole family become excited after seeing a proposal from abroad. The money, opportunities, and better lifestyle lured them to consider an NRI groom.

One can question what drives the obsession and whether it’s worthwhile. It offers considerable comfort. There are opportunities to pursue it with less competition than in India. Yet, it also has other detrimental effects.

People constantly miss family and relatives. They think about India’s traffic and its groundedness. Nostalgia often challenges them to ask why they came to a foreign country in the first place. The career and financial aspects will always loom in their minds, but the charm of Indianness seldom escapes them. That’s why the concept of Mini-India is so prevalent among the NRIs. Middle-class individuals love their well-established children abroad. They proudly show off that their son or daughter is settled in the US or another country. It’s an achievement for middle-class folks.

The fascination with settling in Mini India abroad will continue forever. Homegrown entrepreneurs, brides, and grooms should be given ample priority. There is immense pride in achieving success in one’s own country with limited resources. The Indian middle class will continue to flourish and send its brightest minds abroad, further strengthening the economy. It’s a paradox, but the average Indian middle class takes pride in it.
