“Our generation is the best.” The constant chest-thumping in social media posts across age groups is well-documented. The continuous comparison happens at almost every opportunity. This could be a music video, a delectable delicacy, a movie, or everyday life paraphernalia. The question is, who will decide whose generation is the best in current circumstances?

More importantly, which aspects should be considered before choosing the best generation? Those aspects must also be considered if we do the “best generation” rigmarole or debate. The challenging times and the determination to counter those quandaries often show the character of a whole generation. If we think only of the best or good sides of people’s lives at that age, that’s a rookie mistake.

Every generation experiences its fair share of upbringing, school days, and innocent teenage romances. They live through trending songs, movies, TV series, and social fabric. Each generation is influenced by its outside surroundings and tastes in film, among other things. Personal experiences and preferences in life vary from person to person.

Nevertheless, 90s kids are constantly mentioned in every possible discussion or altercation. Today’s stressful lifestyle and never-ending rat race are often compared to the golden days of old. This has been the best way for youths entering their early 30s to pass the time. Who are we to blame for this soothing, sweet frivolity of recalling and recollecting?

Generational comparisons will continue, with every generation bashing their older age. But the important thing is how we reciprocate love and respect among all, without bias or prejudice.
